Glad you found your way here, Joan. If you are quoting from the Velveteen Rabbit, I suspect we enjoy the same kinds of writing. Birthday blessings to you!
I drag this time of year always. Maybe it’s grief, maybe it’s that I can barely stay on top of my normal life and Christmas adds so many extra things and expectations. But I don’t know. My kids are grown and self sufficient and even help so much... I’m starting to think my usual emotional drag this time of year isn’t from the busyness of being a mom.
Here’s my running list of what helps:
- cozy evenings in
- walking every afternoon before the sun sets (so so early here in the PNW)
- drinking water
- keeping my spaces free of clutter (small house!)
- smooshing my face into a squishy cat
- laughing
- watching spy action thriller shows (the hero always knows what to do)
I am enamored by your Christmas tree: imaginative and lighthearted in this season of such darkness. Thank you, Julie. And the poem, ah, the treasure of today’s poem. ♥️
Hi Julie:
Thank you for being online and supporting Christianity through writing and specifically poetry.
I found you by googling "Christian poets" or something similar.
I turned 80 yesterday and seek to serve Him in a more realistic way. In the meantime, I am just being me and still believing.
.......from the Velveteen Rabbit, "Everything that is real was imagined first."
Age has not erased my imagination; it seems to have become more enhanced.

Hi Julie,
Where can I find the writing offerings for the new year? Thank you for the poem; layers and layers.
Hi Elaine. I haven't yet scheduled 2024 workshops, but the weekly writing prompt posts will include them when I do. Thanks for reading!

Thank you, Shannan. It's a good one. Hope you are well.
All that sounds helpful, Jen, and perhaps like enough.... maybe that’s why I like spy action films too. I’ve never put words to why!
