Julie, you are a healing hostess to my mind and heart in their turmoil and fury. Writing--and speaking out in whatever ways we each can--are essential acts of resistance in these days. Jane's poem feels a bit like Niemoller's "First the came...". Her words and their message are balm simply by their expression of the reality of the daily insults and injuries to truth that keep coming our way. Thank you, thank you.
Thank you for this!! I have been so angry about what is happening in our country and haven’t been able to find an outlet for all my emotions. I look forward to putting words to what I am feeling.
Putting my anger on the page sometimes helps me figure out what to do with it next. I just used an electric kettle to make hot water for more coffee, and now I have the image of writing about my anger meaning instead of it bubbling over in a hot mess, it can be poured out in a directed intentional stream. I hope you can write about it, Beth.
I have you to thank, in part, for bringing me to Substack and for writing again. The other part has to do with grief, loss and love, light and darkness, sorrow and joy.
I’m so glad you are here, Nancy. Keep writing! You have a gift yourself of holding science and the poetry of words together. With you on the journey of grief.
Thank you, Julie. My feelings during these troubled times often consume me with the urgency of speaking out. The poem and your words inspire action. Thinking.
