Julie, just reading this post has been truly lifegiving for me. So much to ponder and consider and ruminate on here...that's happening, and will continue. You've started some wheels turning in both my brain and my heart.
Your strong, encouraging, brave words and voice bring me tears of sheer joy and sadness. Julie, your powerful , loving, and compassionate human soul and words speaks to my healing heart. I am so grateful, even after 15 years, that you chose to share this with us. So blessed to have found this comfort tool with you.
Thank you for this - vulnerable and brave... Sharing story has become such a huge part of the new identity I "think" i am creating. Knowing I am not the only one doing it, is such a comfort. Private, isolating, but freeing... thank you, friend!
"We are good stewards of the stories we tell by trusting them to people who have earned the right to hear them, and telling them when we are ready." I couldn't agree more, Julie. It's good to read this because I've always felt that maybe I was being snobbish in some sense by being selective about who I share some of my stories with.
I was very sorry to read about your son, and send you prayers.
It's a fine balance, isn't it? As a writer we share and share, but some stories do need a smaller audience, at least until we are ready. Thanks for reading, and for the prayers, Terry!
