The two-tone Buick Skylark I drove to high school in the 1980s, with its tape deck and taped-on reminder to “Buckle up!”
The red diesel VW Dasher I shared with my sister in college, until the engine died in Cape May, NJ one summer and I sold it for parts and a plane ticket home
The blue hatchback Honda Accord I drove in college and graduate school, to summer internships, and spring breaks—I could pack my whole life in that car
The weird pinky rose-colored Honda Accord I drove to my first grown-up job, with a car bag phone on the front seat
The white Honda Odyssey with four doors that carted around babies and children and Cheerios, and joy and sorrow both
The white Hyundai Santa Fe I drove when I couldn't afford a Honda anymore and couldn't stand another van and now my daughter is driving it to her first grown-up job
The teal Prius V I bought after the 2016 election but then traded it in for a Ford Escape with the towing package to pull the tiny camper we bought during the pandemic
The dark blue Toyota Camry I’m driving now that has heated seats and I may never buy another car without those ever again
