Insanely perfect. Just what I needed today -- your words, the poem, the acrostic.(Working on one.) The Toto reference was profound, as it triggered a memory of when I played Dorothy in 6th grade. Another writer/ friend who is also a psychologist says every stort is The Wizard of Oz. Thank you. 💕
This was fun. Thank you, Julie. Here's mine:
Ridiculously Courageous (Acrostic Poem)
Right now all
I want to
Do
Is give everyone
Chocolate chip cookies, homemade of course, and
Unlimited
Laughter. The kind that makes the
Obliquus Capitis Superior muscle lift your head
Up to the
Sky in jubilation for
Life even in the dark moments because
You’re never alone
Courage is with you like the mighty
Oak tree anchored deep
Unafraid of the storm
Remembering its faithful
Anchor belongs to
God, who is for
Everyone and brings forth
Outpourings of beauty at every turn for
Us to keep going, to
Sustain us when troubles come our way.
I love this so much, Julie! Thank you and now to work on the acrostic poem. :) How fun, and thank you for the nudge.

Amazing how one story can hold so much in it, and so many of us have a connection to it. Thanks, Elaine.
I loved this post and the poem!
Thanks Laura!
I once played a flying monkey in a ballet recital of the Wizard of Oz.
N ot the role I wanted, at first. I
S upposed myself more the Dorothy or Glinda type—
A glittery princess or plucky heroine flitting across stage
N ot an awkward monkey with a plaid pill box hat and
E xaggerated arm motions.
C ursed then coerced by the wicked witch, the
O dd Ozzian
M onkeys are
M ore nuanced and complex than
I first thought.
T hey persist. In a
M onstrous culture where the powerful
E nslave others, they
N urture hope. And when the
T ime arrives, they fly away. Finally. Fiercely. Free.
Julie, thank you for this creative opportunity to play with words. Here is my acrostic;
I n the heart of every soul is
N urturing and never-ending Love and Loyalty,
S aturated with heartbeats of Hope and Courage.
A midst the mistrust, greed, loneliness and fears,
N estled within the finite spaces of every soul on
E arth
Lies a treasure box,
Y earning for compassion and yielding to
C ommotion, discord, and confusion, waiting to release
O pen-mindedness, open-heartedness and ‘open-love’ness.
M aking their appearance in
M ajestic colors and selfless, generous words and actions.
I ntegrity and determination,
T thoughtfulness and gratitude,
T irelessly abound from a place of raw trust and faith.
E ngaging every eye, ear, and heart of every soul, leading to
D evoted commitment, alongside endless LOVE.
